Tipperary Community Games

Welcome to the Tipperary Community Games Webpage

The Games were formed in Tipperary in 1969 following a meeting with Mrs Breeda Christie,  our current president,  Brother Joyce, RIP  & Joe Connolly.

Tipperary competed in the first National Finals held in Santry Stadium, Dublin in 1970. Gold medals won by boys u12 relay team  Silver Long Jump.  Bronze  U10 100m.  3rd best county overall. 

Tipperary have enjoyed their continued success at national finals every year since 1979 where they won Gold Hardcourt Tennis team captained by Pat Guiry  who is now a professor, recently presented with a Founders Medal at this years 60th BT Young Scientist & Technology Exhibition in recognition of Pat’s huge commitment to BTYSTE over past 20 years.
               
Former Participants includes:-  Noel McGrath, Eoin Kelly, Seamus Callanan members of senior Hurling team.  Alan Quinlan, Rugby.  Michael O’Loughlin, International cyclist, Claire McNamara RTE Sports, Rachael Blackmore, Jockey.  Shane Long, Soccer Star. Jacqui Stokes, Athletics Ireland,  Valerie Colville (Connolly) Tipperary Sports Partnership and won Tippery’s first Gold Judo medal.  Olympians:- Tomas Coman, Gary Ryan and Sharlene Mawdsley. Sean Tobin, a former youth officer set a marathon record becoming the fastest man to cover the 42km distance in Antarctica winning the southernmost marathon on Earth' in December, 2022.
