Notes

  • At the National Festival, the top 6 swimmers in each age group for each event will go forward to the final.
  • Where there are fewer than 6 entries in any event, it will be swum as a Final.
  • For Squads/Medley, the fastest 4 in the competition will be declared the winners (heat declared winners).
  • Swimmers aged 12 years and younger will not be permitted to compete at this meet in a tech suit (as defined by fabric and seam properties).

Additional Notes

This is a County Event. There are no Regional or Provincial Finals in this event.

  1. Rules of Swim Ireland to apply except where amended by Community Games rules.
  2. Races will be judged on touching the finish wall.
  3. In the breaststroke & butterfly races, the touch shall be made with both hands separated and simultaneously.
  4. In squad events, the incoming swimmer must touch before the outgoing swimmer leaves the block.
  5. Starts in Freestyle, Breaststroke, Butterfly events begin with a dive, following a specific whistle and command procedure. The starting signal may be a buzzer, beep, whistle, or hand signal.
