Additional Notes

This is a Provincial event. Your team first qualifies at County level before progressing to Provincial.

  1. The ring is 1.5m in diameter.
  2. Stander or Skittle:
    • Oblong four-sided block 10cm high, tapered from a 7.5cm square base to a 5cm square top.
    • Five standers numbered 1, 2, 3, 4, and 10.
    • Placed in a cross shape about 60cm apart within the ring, with No.10 in the center, No.1 at the bottom (nearest the player), No.2 on the left, No.3 on the right, and No.4 at the top.
  3. Thrower (Throwing Skittle):
    • Cylindrical block of wood/plastic/rubber, 25–30cm long and 5–7.5cm in diameter.
    • Each player may have their own throwers, provided they conform to the above standards.
    • The throw line is marked (5m for U12, 6m for U14, and 7m for U16) from skittle number 1 and is 3m long, squared at the ends with a 5cm line.
  4. A foul line is marked 1m from skittle number 1.
  5. Rounds:
    • The game is played in 5 rounds.
    • Each player throws 4 throwers in a round.
    • The number marked on the stander denotes the points scored (e.g., knocking out No.4 scores four points).
    • For a score to count, a stander must be knocked clear of the ring. If a stander is knocked out and rolls back in without striking an obstacle outside the ring, it does not count as a score. However, a stander knocked back by a later skittle remains a score.
    • If all standers are knocked out of the ring with 3 fair skittles (or fewer), the ring is set up again to finish the throw.
  6. Foul Throws:
    • Throwers landing short of or on the foul line do not count, regardless of the outcome. The player may not retrieve the thrower.
    • A throw taken when a player steps on or over the throw line is a foul throw.
    • Players may not follow through over the throw line.
    • Any stander knocked with a foul throw is deemed dead for the duration of the throw and is to be removed from the ring.
  7. Substitutes can be introduced after one round.
  8. No water allowed on the court.
