Notes

  • The use of aerosols (spray paint etc.) in Art competitions is not allowed.
  • Maximum time allowed: 3 hours.
  • Two participants per county per event will progress to the National Finals.

Additional Notes

  1. An exhibit must be based on a Community Games Activity.
  2. At the National Festival Art competition, under the supervision of the adjudicators, competitors will be required to paint, draw, sketch, or collage:
    • Under 8s & Under 10s: His/her own choice of any Community Games activity.
    • Under 12, Under 14 & Under 16: One only of four (4) taken from a list of ten (10) Community Games Activities previously notified to counties. The four chosen topics will be drawn in the venue 15 minutes prior to commencement of the competition.

  3. A competitor will enter only one exhibit at each level of competition.
  4. An exhibit may be a painting, drawing, collage, or a cartoon.
  5. A supervised competition must be held at both area and county levels.
  6. Adjudication will be based on:
    • Observation of Events: 20 Marks
    • Creativity and Originality: 30 Marks
    • Natural Ability: 50 Marks
  7. Exhibits will be on display for the public to see and will be returned to their respective counties two weeks after the competition.
  8. Maximum size of an exhibit in the Art competition will be A3 size. No surround allowed.
  9. Competitors will use their own choice of paper in accordance with Rule 9.
  10. All materials must be scrutinized prior to the commencement of the competition. If any material is deemed to be prepared, the competitor will be automatically disqualified.
  11. Visual aids (e.g., photographs, newspaper cuttings, transfers) will not be permitted. Adjudicators will request the removal of any item they consider as helping the competitor.
  12. Judges will be given sufficient time to adjudicate all the entries.
