Physical Literacy Training
Physical literacy is the motivation, confidence, physical competence, knowledge and understanding that enables a person to value and participate in physical activity throughout life.
When coaching, it is important to be able to help a child build a relationship with physical activity that can benefit them in the future. It is a reflection of an individual’s personal relationship with physical activity – how they think and feel about it and what they do. Physical literacy is important because it is both a gateway to and an outcome of lifelong participation in physical activity.
This module is an interactive workshop which will enable participants to:
On completion of the workshop all participants will receive a Certificate of Attendance endorsed by Sport Ireland!

- Outline the origins, definition, elements, relationship between the elements and importance of physical literacy.
- Explain whether individuals can be described as ‘physically literate’ and whether physical literacy can be assessed.
